International Quilt Show - Chicago

Last call for International Quilt Show -in Chicago! Quilts Inc. has made plans to move the show to Ohio next spring.

We waited in line for the "preview night" to open. 5 to 9 PM. It was not very crowded, so it was nice to look at the quilts up close at a leisurely pace. But I have to say - not nearly as many quilts as previous years.
We were able to stroll down the vendor aisles, no cramming or crowding - so nice. My camera had a low battery, so I only got a few pictures. This lion was made by Barbara M....something. It looks like it was a photo transfer and she quilted the lion - very lifelike!



A traditional quilt with applique. And I loved the quilting n the white areas.

Irish Quilt

This customer quilt was pieced by Lois B. for the Irish Setter Club of America. The green, white and orange represent the Irish Flag. Celtic knots were quilted in each rectangle and the white squares. The 2 heads of the Irish Setter in the center were done free-hand. She had the center wording embroidered.

This and That

Here are a couple things that have come across my longarm lately. What a cute train quilt! Pieced by Kathy Young. She made up this pattern for her four year old grandson. He's going to love it!





























I also worked on a hockey quilt for Troy. He really liked the ice skates in the quilting. His mom, Laura M. quilted it. This is her first bed-size quilt!
























And my nephew, Eric, finally got his quilt! He loved it and went to put it on his bed immediately.

Springtime Basket Quilt

This basket quilt was pieced by Patsy M. (Sorry for the upside down photo - I took it from the back of my longarm). Check out the dainty green flange border. And the white on the baskets. It is wool, with french knots in each scallop. A really nice touch. I wish I would have hung this up properly and taken better photos. I quilted free-hand feathers in outer border, double feathers in inner border, a spiral background fill around baskets.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! I would prefer to call it Resurrection Day. Our local church was packed. We celebrated by remembering Christ's resurrection! Hope you all have a wonderful, peaceful Easter day.

I saw these colorful painted eggs and just had to share them as well.
